Translation

Lumiere can translate your question text into different language pathways that lead to the same insights dashboard.

You can translate all on-screen text — question prompts, slider labels, reaction text, and more — into any of the following languages:

  • German (Germany)

  • English (Australia)

  • English (Canada)

  • English (UK)

  • Spanish (Spain)

  • Spanish (Mexico)

  • Spanish (US)

  • French (Canada)

  • French (France)

  • Italian (Italy)

  • Japanese (Japan)

  • Korean (South Korea)

  • Portuguese (Brazil)

When you add a new language, Lumiere adds it to your video's list of language pathways. When you share the video link, Lumiere automatically serves up the language that matches the viewer's device settings.

For example: if you add German (Germany), viewers whose devices are set to German will see your video's on-screen features in German. Everyone else will see it in your video's primary language.

To Add a Language Option to your Video

  1. Go to your video's Setup page.

  2. Open the Video Settings tab in the left sidebar.

  3. At the bottom of the panel, find the Languages section.

  4. Click Add Language and select your language option.

Editing a language pathway

Once a new language pathway is added, you can fine-tune the wording for that specific language:

  1. Open the language pathway list at the top of the page, under your video's title.

  2. Select the pathway you want to edit.

  3. Adjust the verbiage for that pathway.

Primary Language

The primary language is what viewers see by default unless their device settings match one of your other language pathways.

To change your video's primary language:

  1. Go to the Video Settings tab under the Setup page.

  2. Under Languages, find the language you want to set as primary.

  3. Click the ... to open the menu.

  4. Select Set as Primary.

Things to keep in mind

Primary Language Hierarchy

  • Edits made in the primary language pathway automatically update every non-primary pathway.

  • Edits made in a non-primary pathway only affect that pathway — they won't change your primary language..

Changing/Adding Features

Adding or changing question features in any pathway updates every other pathway too. A few examples:

Example 1: Adding a question to your German language pathway will add a new question to all other primary and non-primary language pathways.

Example 2: Adding a multiple-choice row to your German language pathway will add a new multiple-choice question row to all other primary and non-primary language pathways on that same question.

Example 3: Changing or adjusting your reaction type to your German language pathway will change the reactions on all other primary and non-primary language pathways.
