Creating and Using Scenes

Scenes break down your content into smaller sections so you can compare sections of your video.

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

Scenes allow you to divide your video into smaller segments for in-depth analysis. This tool helps you identify which parts of your video connect most with your audience, which scenes have the most impact, and which moments elicit the strongest reactions.

By breaking your video into smaller sections, you can effectively analyze Reaction metrics by using each scene as a filter. This segmentation allows you to pinpoint specific moments in your video that resonate most with your audience, giving you valuable insights into viewer engagement and emotional responses. By examining the data from each scene individually, you can identify trends, patterns, and key highlights that contribute to the overall impact of your video. This detailed analysis helps you make informed decisions on content creation, editing, and optimization to enhance the viewer experience and maximize viewer engagement.

Scene Timing

Scenes are like Chapters of a book: they start when another ends. When a video is uploaded to Lumiere, a default scene starting at 0:00 (the start of your video) will automatically be created. This beginning scene, called “Scene 1”, will run until the start time of the next scene you create for your video.

Note: The default scene created at the beginning of your video by cannot be deleted

The timestamp above a scene card indicates the start time of that scene and the end time of the previous scene. In the image above, Scene 1 starts at 0:00 and ends when Scene 2 begins at 0:33.

Creating Scenes

Under Video Setup, you can create scenes using video timestamps. Taking video imagery changes and script context changes into consideration, Lumiere will also give you suggestions on where to add scene breaks within your video.

To manually add scenes:

  1. Go to video setup

  2. A scene will automatically be added at the start of the video

  3. Navigate on the video timeline to when you want Scene 1 to end and Scene 2 to begin

  4. Click + Plus next to Scenes below the video player to create a new Scene at that point in the video

A new scene will be created using the starting point you selected on the video timeline and will run until the start time of the next scene you create or to the end of the video if no additional scene is created.
