Conversations

Learn how Lumiere's Conversations feature helps you get past surface level reactions with an AI guided dialogue.

Introduction

Conversations, powered by AI, are a powerful way to get deeper insights from viewer comments and question responses. When the feature is on, the AI looks at the feedback a viewer submits and decides whether more info would be useful. If so, it kicks off a series of follow-up questions guided by a prompt you've written.

Your conversation prompt is the AI's playbook — it tells the model what to ask and how to dig in.

You can turn on Conversations for:

  • Persistent Comments

  • Prompted Questions

AI Conversations for Persistent Comments

Ever get a comment like "This is cool" and wish you knew why? That's exactly what Conversations on Persistent Comments are built for. By asking targeted follow-up questions, the AI helps surface the specific reasons behind viewer opinions — turning vague feedback into something you can actually use.

Want to see it in action? Leave a comment on the example video below.

To turn on Conversations for Persistent Comments:

  1. Navigate to the Reactions tab of your video setup

  2. Toggle on AI Conversations

  3. Create a Conversation Prompt in the provided entry box

AI Conversations for Prompted Questions

When Conversations are on for a Prompted Question, the AI asks viewers for a little more info about what drove their response. Say you ask viewers to "Rate this video 1–10." Once they submit, the AI considers the question, the video's context, the response, and your conversation prompt — then asks follow-ups to uncover the why behind the rating.

Try it out in the example video below.

To turn on Conversations for Prompted Questions:

  1. Go to the Questions tab of your video setup and select the question you want to enable Conversations on.

  2. Toggle on AI Conversations.

  3. Write a Follow-Up Goal in the entry box to prompt the AI.
